John Ma(马中国)joined the faculty of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Tennessee in August 2005. He received his PhD from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln in 1998. He is a registered professional engineer in Nebraska. He is the associate editor of ASCE Journal of Bridge Engineering & ASCE Journal of Structural Engineering. 报告摘要:Meeting the growing global demand for energy will require bringing the knowledge and skills of researchers from cross disciplines to facilitate the environmentally responsible development of resources around the world. Researchers at UTK are studying the potential role of nuclear power as an emissions-free source of energy. Topics include management of the degradation of concrete by an Alkali Silica Reaction (ASR) in nuclear power plants, quantitative analysis on silicate minerals in aggregates with different microstructural features (i.e. crystal size and sub-grain boundaries) in order to develop alternative methods assessing aggregate reactivity, optimization of concrete properties in self-compacting concrete (SCC) and high early strength gain for building energy efficiency, as well as capturing atmospheric carbon dioxide emissions for reuse.
